THE ENGAGEMENT STORY

We were eating lunch with friends and people we had just met at SXSW, when Nick Fink called Anthony and asked him if he wanted to propose at a panel, and if so, to get everyone over to the convention center in 20 minutes. Anthony luckily had the ring hidden in his pocket, took the opportunity, and dragged all his friends to the panel. No one knew what was going on, but an explanation was given briefly on the way over.

The room we ended up in was Frank Warren’s Post Secret Keynote, and there were literally hundreds of people in the audience. Anthony gave the word to Nick, and Nick waved a white napkin signifying that Anthony was present and interested in getting up on stage to ask Natalie the BIG question.

When the Keynote closed, Frank purposely called for questions, and purposely chose Anthony as the first person. Anthony walked on stage in front of all those people, lights blaring in his eyes, and introduced himself. He then pulled the ring out of his pocket, and asked, "Natalie Thai, will you marry me?"

He stood there nervously with his legs shaking, waiting for Natalie to make her way to the stage all the way from the back of the room. The time it took seemed like an eternity but she eventually made it. She whispered in his year with a YES.

ENGAGEMENT MEMOIRS
Natalie recollects- "I sat there engulfed in a feeling of who-knows-what and started getting butterflies in my stomach. Apparently, my reaction was too slow since Sara and Jonathan were urging me to get up and walk. My walk was even slower than my reaction."

Anthony recollects- "There have been very little things in my life that I have been sure of, but Natalie was the first and only exception. Realizing that I wanted to spend my life with Natalie was the easiest, most crystal clear, and natural decision of my life. Getting the balls to get on stage in front of hundreds of my peer, with no time to prepare was not as easy."
